Why Convert CSV Files to Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)?
CSV files are simple plain-text representations of tabular data. However, opening CSV files directly in Microsoft Excel often triggers notorious auto-formatting bugs: leading zeros in ZIP codes and phone numbers are deleted, international dates are swapped between MM/DD and DD/MM, and large numbers are converted into scientific notation (e.g. 1.23E+11).
By converting CSV into a genuine OpenXML Microsoft Excel workbook (.xlsx), cell types, explicit text formatting, and column widths are formally encoded into the binary spreadsheet container, preventing Excel from altering your raw data.
